Meet the Coaches

Jovon Johnson headlines a talented group of coaches for Sinai Sports' debut football skills camp! Johnson played professional football for 13 years, including teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers, Ottawa Redblacks, and Montreal Alouettes. Johnson was a 5x CFL All-Star and Grey Cup Champion in the CFL. Johnson is currently the Head Coach of North East.

Garrett OweNS

Garrett Owens co-headlines the first ever Sinai Sports Football Clinic! Owens was a star RB at North East in high school before playing the same position at Mercyhurst and later transferring to Division-I Duquesne. Garrett was drafted and played for the XFL's Houston Roughnecks in 2023 and is seeking NFL opportunities.

Jayson Nickson joins the coaching staff of the first ever Sinai Sports football camp. Nickson has been around football his entire life, and was a standout at Mercyhurst Prep in high school. Nickson took his talents to Slippery Rock in college and finished his career sixth all-time in solo tackles. Nickson played professionally for the Erie Explosion, and helped them win two CIFL championships. Nickson is now the DB coach at Cathedral Prep High School.

Sinai's own Derrick Lyons will anchor the strength & conditioning portion of Sinai Sports' first ever football camp! Coach D was a former Division-I football player at Towson University where he earned his BS in Exercise Science. Derrick coaches all of our fitness classes here at Sinai Sports- both adult and youth.

Derrick brings the energy to Sinai Sports everyday, and is looking forward to coaching some of the best young football players in Erie!

Deonte Flemings joins the coaching staff for Sinai Sports' debut football clinic. Flemings moved to Erie from Alabama and played high school football at Central Tech and Strong Vincent. Flemings had offers from Ohio, Pitt, and Akron out of high school. Flemings wound up playing football at Slippery Rock where he anchored the secondary. Flemings was NFL Draft eligible in 2016, but went undrafted.
